The Labradors

Don and Mischief by Princeton pond

Miss Homefield was my first Labrador. She was named after one of  my son's imaginary playtime characters. Although I got her from a private party, she was very much the product of Grace Lambert's Harrowby Kennel, which was managed by Ken Golden and known for its dual-purpose Labradors. She was a family member and a wonderful companion, who went everywhere with us and played football and baseball with the neighborhood children.

18 months
She was also an excellent Obedience Trial competitor, earning her CD with a Will Judy award, and her CDX. Rarely shown in conformation, she was honored with a class first under Mary Roslin Williams at the Potomac Specialty Show. Although never bred, her balance and type, intelligence, trainability, and rock solid temperament set a standard which I have used to evaluate my Labradors over the years.
